Scrolling endlessly through long slicers in Power BI? There’s a better way! Most users don’t realize that Power BI has a built-in search function for slicers, and even fewer know about a hidden shortcut that makes searching even faster.
In this post, I’ll show you two simple ways to enable search and find what you need instantly.
Option 1: Enable the Search Feature in Power BI
The best way to make searching easier is to turn on the built-in search option for slicers. Here’s how:
- Click on the slicer in your Power BI report.
- Click on the three-dot menu (More options).
- Select “Search” from the dropdown.
That’s it! Now you can type in your search instead of scrolling through a long list of values.
But what if the search option isn’t visible? Don’t worry—there’s a hidden trick!
Option 2: Use the Hidden CTRL + F Shortcut
If you don’t see the search option in the menu, you can force it to appear using a keyboard shortcut:
- Click on the slicer to select it.
- Press CTRL + F on your keyboard.
- The search bar will appear instantly—no more endless scrolling!
Many Power BI users aren’t aware of this shortcut, but it’s a game-changer for navigating large datasets quickly.
